CHUCK HAGEL ABOUT INDIA

United States Senate has elected Chuck Hagel as Obama's new secretary of defense. After one of the lengthiest and most bitter confirmation fights in recent history, the Senate on Tuesday voted to confirm Chuck Hagel as president Barack Obama's next secretary of defense.
Hagel volunteered himself in Vietnam war and he is a recipient of two purple hearts. He is a member of Republican party. Some of Hagel's policy positions became the subject of heated debate in the Senate, including support of defense cuts, opposition to preemptive action against Iran, and support of talks with Hamas and Hezbollah.
"India has over the years financed problems for Pakistan" in Afghanistan, said Mr Hagel in a 2011 speech at the previously little-known foreign policy seed-bed of Oklahoma University. He is new Minister of defense in America. He gave this statement two years ago but it has come again in media because New Delhi termed his statement as "outlandish and bizzare". BJP asked government to put diplomatic pressure on india to for unconditional withdrawl of this statement.
The Times of india said Mr Hagel’s remarks were in sharp contrast to the viewpoint of the Obama administration that had always been in praise of India’s developmental role in Afghanistan and in fact had been pressing New Delhi to do more in Afghanistan.
“Chuck Hagel’s simplistic remarks surfacing amid the rushed U.S. exit from Afghanistan, co-option of Pakistan as facilitator with benefits, and beatification of unreformed Taliban, have India on edge,” said K. C. Singh, a former Indian diplomat, told the Post. “The situation requires immediate retraction of Hagel’s statement to avoid damage to India-U.S. relations, particularly defense cooperation.”
One official said that his remarks has already created discomfort.India’s development assistance has been deeply appreciated by the people and the government of Afghanistan, and by our friends around the world, including the United States,” the embassy statement said. “We do not view our engagement with Afghanistan as a zero sum game.
US embassy in India put him aside about Chuck's statement and have said that we strongly support the role of india in building economy and infrastructure in Afghanistan.
Chuck's had been a controversial personality about his Anti-Israel sentiments and about a lot of other things. Now Its time to think that how things will turn in near future. Will hagel interupt in the foreign policy US or not? A lot of questions are arising in the minds of people about these things.Does he will make reformations in these things or he will make them more worst? Lets see what happens in future..
